I’m watching fashion shows on the net and something stuck me really hard. We should find the fountain of youth fast coz the society embraces this aspect.

What we viewers see are youth, beauty, grace and other nice adjectives to go with it when we see these fashion shows. Everything looks nice and glamourous and most of us do aspire to be like them. Capturing that moment?

However, all these are rather glamourising youth and living the high life. But this is not so in reality. Coz we do age young at the ripe age of 26 and beyond. Isnt it any irony that the models are young and youthful while the designers age like crazy to churn out the latest trends. Look at their crow feets around the eyes. What a contrast!

It seems like the whole industry is in love with the figure of a twelve year boy. How ridiculous is that! Humans come in all shapes as well as sizes and yet the clothes displayed on these clothes hangers are sizes 0 and 2. Ouch! Does that mean that real people can wear these clothes? Or plus sizes look damn unglamourous with these clothings?

Btw, some of these models starve themselves so that they can reduce a few stones from their weight so that they can fit into the sample sizes of 0 and 2.

I believe some designers try to put real people on their runaways. But these werent successful coz the consumers’ minds are still filled with picture perfect models. Rather the market is not ready for such models. Look at the model industry. You can count the plus size models with your fingers and toes.

To me, I still love fashion but will re-recreate it to suit my body curves.

Let me quote the late Yves Saint Laurent ‘ Fashions fade, style is eternal.’ Enough said already!

Woke up late on a long Good Friday weekend and obviously late for my last appointment. I really need to change my sleeping habits. Seriously having insomnia and yet not earning any ‘kachang‘ from this (no pun intended).

Didnt have breakfast nor lunch means that I’m not living on a healthy diet. The only meal that I had was a gf’s place. The usual topics of how are you, what are you doing now would be discussed at the dinner table.

When I mentioned that I’m doing salsa and zouk, her reaction was “Arent you too old for that”. It shot straight to my heart and made me wonder what was I really doing during my 20s. BTW, I shot back by saying that I’m still flexible. Yes, my hands still can touch the ground and I can kiss my toes…yuuuuccccks!

Right now, I feel even more alive and active. Perhaps, it’s age catching up but I’m enjoying this portion of my life though career-wise isnt looking very hopeful.

For the past few months, I have been dancing both salsa and zouk. For Zouk, it’s relatively new in SG but not in Europe, Americas, etc.

Honestly, I enjoy zouk better than salsa though it’s relatively more challenging and intimate in terms of the body movements. My stomach muscles have strengthened and say bye bye to love handles. I can see more results and body transformation. Yes, I’m happy when practising zouk.

However, there are quite a number of people who are not receptive to this new dance form. Even one of the dance areas that sg salseros would affectionately call ‘The Union’ (located at Amara) does not offer many zouk songs. In fact, this dance ‘hall’ has changed its image and keeping up with the times. It seemed to look similar to Modiva at St James.

• Mobile Phone

Honestly, my friends are getting tired of my mobile phone died on me. This is a must-have list when my contract ends. It’s still a long way till August. Argh!

• A pair of capris

I did bought a pair of gym three quarts. But I’m looking for a black pair that could take me from streets to gym and vice versa. Branded sport companies, please design a reasonable priced pair. Found a pair today at Adidas but it cost SGD 100 approx. Had to give this up and continue my search.

For this year’s IT fair, SL got a pretty good deal for his Iphone. Yes, he had crumbled into the temptation coz the deal was too good to be true.

We decided to go back to the IT fair after having dinner with his colleague and her companion with only 30 mins left. After getting his Iphone, he became very protective over his new gadget.

We were busy hunting down the ‘best’ casing for his new toy. Everywhere we went, he was left unsatisfied. Saying this was too girlish, that was ugly. Nothing fitted till we went to a place where there was a crowd.

I decided to go forward to see the products closer. Oh boy, the prices of everything were super slashed. We managed to grab a couple of Iphone pouches as well as other accessories. Well, the prices were too good to be true when compared to the retail stores and had checked on the website for the authenticity of the products.

SL was very picky on the colors for his accessories. I could not find the identical case that the Indian man (read the story below) had stolen. All I could find were pink cases and there were a couple of Ipod classic casings that I had gave them a miss. Finally, I managed to find a couple of black casings for both Iphone and Ipod casings. According to him, these fitted his image perfectly.

The scenario that I was facing was ‘grab it first and decide later’ as the price was very affordable. One of my regrets was not grabbing a silicon case for my Ipod and the other was a TDK docking system. The other item was another Belkin Sleevetop.

If you asked pricings from two sales personnel, their quotes were different and we decided to buy from the male instead. The female quoted a much higher price. All these items were purchased less than SGD 100 and it was a pretty good bargain based on the number of items that we had bought.

I do know that I’m a tech idiot but a savvy consumer who can smell bargains from afar. This shopping trip was great!

Tip : It will be good to carry cash rather than other methods of payment as this will increase your bargaining power and some stores only accept cash.
